So, graphic design, for me, right out of the gates was pragmatic. It was exciting because there was some art, but also, there was a chance to go and get trained and actually make a living and take care of myself. Sure, smarter people than myself are always on my case, tempting me with the age-old, 'Dude, let’s get you couple kids to do the dirty work for you' thing. But I have to say, the first time I had to teach a kid something I knew from muscle memory, and then, still have to re-do it in the end? I begin with sketching, taking notes, thinking, making lists and then taking the sketches into Illustrator, and fine-tuning them digitally.

When I show a logo, I don’t just show the logo kind of floating on white space in a PDF. I try to show it on dark space, I try to show it on a water bottle, I try to show it as a sticker or a patch and get them excited. “Too many times you’ll pick up a new record and be like, ‘Fuck man, they’re just droppin’ the ball. They could’ve done so much more, and they didn’t.’ That bums me out.

And I have a couple times here and there. Sure, it made stuff easier, but also, it took a good chunk of time to keep them busy. I think I’m better as a one man band, sweating out every aspect at my own halfwit pace. Well, I think that’s sort of by being accommodating. I think it’s pretty simple.

We’re launching CS5 in a week and as i said, we’d love to have you contribute to this upcoming issue. It’s not about marketing the product or advertising it. In fact, we encourage our guests to be critical of what we do… if you have any good things to say, about our tools, etc, when then we’re happy about that too.

I love a simple DDC Clic Pen and all, but there's something about these pens that elevates my game on paper. And that's pretty dang cool. Six vintage posters in near perfect condition.

I really like the Obama poster you designed. I would love to buy a few from you to put in the window of one of my galleries in Marfa TX. Marfa is a big Obama town and they also “get it” . Studio On Fire is an incredible print shop.
